Vulnerability Aggregation Team
iDefense's Vulnerability Aggregation Team (VAT) is responsible for ensuring around-the-clock coverage and customer notification of burgeoning vulnerabilities and exploits that target any of the more than 1,500 applications, hardware and operating systems monitored. Tiered VAT analysts provide primary and secondary analysis of new vulnerabilities and exploits, working in a rapid-response system designed to ensure up-to-the-minute notification.
VAT analysts are skilled security researchers with shift-based INFOSEC backgrounds, having worked with network operations center monitoring, system security administration and others. Many have worked for large telecommunications and other Fortune 50 organizations and for the US Department of Defense. Analysts regularly infiltrate black-hat organizations, and are skilled in tracking underground research and gaining access to zero-day exploits.
iDefense recognizes that there is an abundance of technical security knowledge concerning undisclosed vulnerabilities and exploit code that are constantly discovered or created by individuals and security groups. Some of this information may see the light of day on security mailing lists or eventually be disclosed as the result of a "post-mortem" analysis of a compromised computer system.
The VAT team consists of the
labs and
vulnerability contributor program divisions.
