The iDefense Threat Analysis Team assesses the motivation behind cyber attacks and hacker groups worldwide, and reports on related topics, including emerging threats, information warfare, cyber crime and critical infrastructure protection.

Why are hackers attacking certain targets? Who was behind a recent attack, and what might the next target be? These are some of the issues that the Threat team evaluates in support of the Global Cyber Threat module. The Threat Team also produces the intelligence within the Focused Intelligence module, investigating specific threats against any particular organization or sector.

Team members include analysts who have served with the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the United States Army.

The iDefense Threat Analysis Team produces research papers dealing with key geopolitical and cyber crime-related areas of interest. Since cyber threats are a global issue, team members are proficient in a multitude of languages.
